How to Analyze an Office Action

Starting an Analysis

From the dashboard, enter your USPTO application number in the chat input. You can use formats like 18/123,456 or just 18123456. Abigail recognizes both.

The Ingestion Process

After you enter the number, Abigail fetches documents from USPTO PAIR. This includes the Office Action, all cited references, the patent claims, and the complete prosecution history. Documents are downloaded, parsed, and indexed automatically.

The 10-Expert Pipeline

Once documents are ready, Abigail runs 10 specialized AI experts in parallel. Each expert analyzes a different dimension of your case. The Claims Analyst decomposes claims into elements. The Prior Art Comparator maps each element to cited references. The Rejection Strategist identifies argument opportunities.

Reading the Results

Results appear in the Analysis Panel panel on the right side of the screen. Three tabs are available: Claims review step (hierarchical view of all claims with status), Prior art mapping step (element-level mapping to references), and Rejection analysis step (argument strategies per rejection).

Re-running Analysis

If you want to re-analyze after making amendments or if new Office Actions arrive, simply ask in the chat: "Analyze the latest Office Action for 18/123,456." Abigail will fetch any new documents and re-run the pipeline.
