Abigail Academy is a free, self-paced learning platform with 22 step-by-step courses covering every feature of the ABIGAIL AI patent prosecution platform. Each course includes written guides with screenshots from the live application. All courses are written by Roger Hahn, a USPTO Registered Patent Attorney (Reg. No. 46,376) with 25+ years of prosecution experience and degrees from Chicago Kent (JD), Columbia (MBA), and Johns Hopkins (MS Engineering).

Yes, completely free. All 22 courses and 140+ steps are available at no cost. You do not need a paid ABIGAIL subscription to access Academy content. Creating a free ABIGAIL account gives you access to the Academy plus $25 in credits to try the AI prosecution tools on a real Office Action.

Academy courses are organized into four categories: Getting Started (account setup, first OA analysis, Excel docket import), Core Features (Claims Visualizer, Prior Art Comparator, Run All pipeline, examiner intelligence, form generation), Rejection Types (step-by-step guides for 35 USC 101, 102, 103, 112, double patenting, restriction requirements, and drawing objections), and Advanced Topics (custom knowledge libraries, portfolio analytics, API integration, multi-turn refinement strategies).

Academy courses are written as interactive step-by-step walkthroughs with screenshots from the live ABIGAIL application. Each step shows you exactly what to click, what to enter, and what output to expect. Courses progress from beginner to advanced with estimated completion times. They are maintained and updated as the platform evolves, unlike static video content that becomes outdated.

Academy courses assume basic familiarity with USPTO patent prosecution concepts (what an Office Action is, what claim rejections mean). If you are a registered patent attorney or agent, a law student studying IP, or an in-house IP professional, the Academy will teach you how to use AI tools to accelerate your existing prosecution workflow. It is not a substitute for legal education in patent law.

It walks you through signing up, entering an application number, and watching ABIGAIL’s 11 AI experts analyze the Office Action. From there, take "Import Your Docket from Excel" to load your full case portfolio, then explore the rejection-specific courses (103 Obviousness, 101 Alice, 112 Written Description) based on the types of OAs you handle most.

Yes. The Advanced Topics section includes a course on integrating ABIGAIL into your workflow via the REST API. It covers authentication, looking up applications programmatically, triggering OA analysis via API, and building custom automation workflows. The API is also documented at docs.abigail.app with code examples in curl, Python, and JavaScript.
