ABIGAIL's AI auto-fill pulls application data directly from USPTO Patent Center records for the linked case and maps it to the corresponding fields in the selected form template. The fields populated automatically include:
The auto-fill uses a three-tier field matching strategy. First, exact per-form mappings for forms with non-standard field names (SB/30, SB/06, SB/08, SB/08a, SB/08b, SB/35). Second, direct passthrough where the field key exactly matches the PDF field name. Third, universal pattern matching against human-readable PDF field names for all remaining fields.
After auto-fill, every field is still editable. Auto-fill populates what USPTO records know. You add the application-specific content — prior art citations for an IDS, continuation arguments for an RCE, appeal arguments for the brief.

What Is the ABIGAIL Approval Workflow?
ABIGAIL includes a built-in approval workflow for forms. After a form draft is prepared, it can be submitted for review by authorized firm members. Approval authority is role-based:

Full approval authority. Partners can approve, reject with reason, and review form data.
Approval authority. Same capabilities as partner for form approvals.
Non-approvers see a read-only view of the approvals queue. Rejected forms include a required rejection reason that the preparer sees when the form returns to their draft queue. The approval history timeline shows created and updated timestamps for each action.
PDF generation happens automatically when a form is approved. Both the standard PDF and a flattened version optimized for USPTO PAIR upload are available for download immediately after approval.

Yes. Application linkage is optional. If you link an application, ABIGAIL auto-fills fields from the case record. Without a linked application, you fill the fields manually.
Does ABIGAIL support PCT forms?
Yes. The PCT/National Stage category includes PCT/RO/101 (Request under PCT), SB/371 (National Stage Entry), and PCT/IPEA/401. Note that some PCT templates generate a placeholder PDF with form data listed as text rather than a filled PDF, due to the PDF format of those official templates.
Can I download the form before it is approved?
Form download is available for forms in approved, generated, finalized, or filed status. Drafts and pending_review forms do not have a download option — the PDF is generated at approval.
Is there version history for form drafts?
Yes. ABIGAIL maintains version history for each form draft. You can view the version list and restore a previous version if needed.
Can I file directly to USPTO from ABIGAIL?
